No Place Like Rome

A new feature film by writer and director Cecilia Miniucchi

Following her acclaimed films Expired, Life Upside Down, and I Love Amsterdam... and You—official selections at Sundance, Cannes, and Venice, and distributed worldwide—Cecilia Miniucchi returns with No Place Like Rome a tender, witty, and deeply romantic tale set in the heart of the Eternal City. Reuniting her trusted creative team, Miniucchi joins forces once again with producers Jeffrey Coulter (Life Upside Down, Expired, Rushlights, Freakshow) and Carl F. Berg (I Love Amsterdam... and You, Life Upside Down, Off The Walls) to bring this heartfelt story to life.

The Story
Connor is a renowned photographer for a prestigious New York magazine, sent to Rome on assignment just as the holiday season begins. He’s expecting his teenage son to join him for Christmas—an emotional anchor after a difficult divorce he’s yet to fully recover from. But when plans change and his son is no longer coming, Connor, with no family waiting back home, chooses to stay in Rome, alone.

Then comes an unexpected assignment: to capture the lesser-known side of Rome during Christmas. As he wanders the city’s narrow streets and hidden courtyards, guided by Scintilla, his vivacious and captivating assistant—an art curator with a passion for the city's forgotten corners—Connor begins to rediscover not just the beauty of Rome, but something long dormant within himself.

With a gentle push from a mysterious psychic and the growing spark between him and Scintilla, Connor’s journey takes a turn toward the magical. Against the backdrop of twinkling lights, timeless ruins, and unexpected moments, he starts to believe that love—real love—might just find him again.

Even with someone who once told him, “We’re perfectly matched for not being together.”
